Is this the end?!?!

OH NO!!!!  The Town of Clarence is taking down signs!!  Why do we care?  Our  signs at the corners of Keller and Strickler, and Keller and Salt are the only advertising we do. It's the only way people know the stand is open (beside our website).  That means if we don't have the signs and people don't come to the stand, the tomatoes will rot; and that means its the last year for the tomato stand.

Seedling Update

Ready for pick up!  Right now they average from four to six inches in height, some are smaller, some are taller.

Seedling Update

The seedlings are coming along nicely, although still behind in growth a bit due to the cold April.  I've got all the orders put together and should be notifying customers within a couple weeks that they're ready for pick up.

Seedling Update

The seedlings are looking good, but are quite far behind in growth due to the cooler temperatures, especially when compared to last year. I plan on starting transplanting to the final selling pots next Friday, 5/4.  That means customer pick up won't begin until the week of 5/13, maybe around Wednesday, 5/16. We'll have to wait to see.

Seedling Update

Most seedlings have their second set of leaves now.  Growth has really slowed down the last week or so due to the cooler weather.  I'm shooting for next week to start transplanting to the final selling pots.

Seedling Update

Lot's of little beauties have popped up! The first sprouts appeared Tuesday and once they started, they've been going like gangbusters. As they sprout, I transplant them from a warming seed tray to individual seedling packs (1" - the 9 per pack kind). I've just pulled the greenhouse out of storage and set it up. I transferred the seedling packs I've done this past week out there. But today's a little too sunny for the newbies, so I've thrown a big sheet over the top of the greenhouse to give them some shade.
Towards the end of April, once they've sprouted their second leaf-set, I transplant them to the 2 1/2" pots that I sell them in. It's at that time that I separate them into individual customer orders (and find out who I have to call and say "I don't have enough of _ _ _ _ _ for your order, can I substitute something else?").
Well, I've got to get back to transplanting seedlings......

Seedling Update

I planted the seeds today. Stay tuned to this spot for germination and seedling growth updates. As seedlings grow, are labelled, and assigned to customers, the "potential" will become "actual" in the plant count. Who knows, if germination is better than expected, some of the"SOLD OUT" varieties could change to "available". Although I do have a waiting list on some varieties.
